Social Psychology: School Themed

An example of compliance is helping another person with homework because they asked for help. This is because compliance is defined as changing one's behavior at the request or direction of another person. In this scenario, the student is helping another student because they were requested to.

An example of obedience is a student listening to a teacher and following her instructions. This is because obedience is a form of social influence that involves performing an action under the orders of an authority figure. In this scenario, the student is listening to an authority figure, the teacher, indicating obedience.

An example of social facilitation is performing better for a presentation when it is in front of the entire class rather than in front of the teacher only. This is because social facilitation is the concept that people perform better in front of others because of increased excitation. In this scenario, the classmates that watch the presentation influence the student to present better because there is an audience present.

An example of group polarization is when a person thinks that a teacher is just okay, but when discussing this teacher with other students, the group exemplifies negative elements of the teacher, causing the group to strongly dislike the teacher. This is because group polarization is the tendency for groups to show a shift towards the extremes of decision-making when compared to decisions made by individuals.

An example of a reciprocity norm is feeling obligated to send someone homework answers after another student sent homework answers. This is because a reciprocity norm is a social norm where one feels obligated to return a favor after someone does something for you.
