Week 9
Letter to
Dear Future AP Student,
This class is practically over, and I've definitely learned a lot. As such, I'm going to give a lot of unsolicited advice. First and foremost, please always do your vocab. It helps a lot more than you think (not just with grades but also with remembering information). More importantly, please never force yourself to do the vocab on the last day. As someone who has done that far too often, it is incredibly painful. You should try and space the days out (e.g., doing one day every day or doing two days every few days).
I promise AP Psych isn't miserable at all, or if it is, it's probably your own fault. In fact, we've also had a lot of fun. My favorite activity was definitely finding a way to not conform in society. I really thought that the options were fun, and as a result, when it came to being a non-conformist, it was exciting seeing what other people were doing (as well as seeing people's reaction to mine!).
Some of the less enjoyable things were the textbook searching worksheets. I sincerely hope you don't have to do them again. I think they were really helpful, and I remembered information from them, but I also struggled trying to find the information. More importantly, I think a lot of people found it easier to simply search the answers up instead of solely using the textbook. The textbooks are hard to navigate, and a lot of the information isn't easily accessible (e.g., barely defined, not in the glossary, hard to tell it falls under certain headings, sometimes you have to search in both textbooks, etc.).
For next year, I hope there are more opportunities to go over the quizzes we take. I think that would help information stick a lot longer, and I would also know which units to work on. I'm not sure where that time would come from, but I think it'd be more helpful reviewing the questions we missed than having another day of learning content.
I hope you have an amazing year! I had a lot of fun in this class, and I know that you will too. You got this!!
Wishing you the best time ever,
Laurice
